Atomic Fast Now Speaks 10 More Languages

Atomic Fast’s August language update added ten languages alongside English:

The current iOS language catalog and Android locale configuration include that same set. This article explains the supported choices and the limits checked in October 2026.

Choose a language inside the app

The app follows the device’s supported language by default. You can choose another in Me → Language → App Language, using the language’s own name to identify it. Select the system option to return to the device choice.

Changing the display language does not translate meal names you typed yourself or rewrite your fasting history. It changes the interface and its localized formatting. Food data from an external database may still appear in the source’s language.

The guide to starting a fast uses English labels. If you use another language, the corresponding controls have translated labels rather than a different fasting workflow.

The app and its companion surfaces can differ

On iOS, widgets, Live Activities and Apple Watch run outside the main app. They follow the relevant system language rather than the main app’s in-app override. Selecting German inside the iPhone app therefore does not by itself promise that every companion surface will switch to German.

Android uses the platform’s per-app language support through its compatibility layer. Widget language behavior can depend on the Android version. If a widget has not followed a change, check its system language context rather than assuming your saved app selection was lost.

This is a language setting, not an additional subscription feature. Your existing history stays in place when you change it.

Translation work includes more than labels

Dates, numbers, plural forms and sentences with inserted values all need language-aware handling. A translation can exist in a resource file and still fail to appear if the app asks for the wrong key or passes the wrong kind of value.

The repository includes checks for missing translations, placeholders, plural forms and locale configuration. Those checks catch specific classes of mistakes. They do not prove that every sentence sounds natural or every screen fits on every device.

We have removed the earlier claim that a documented number of corrections came from native-speaker review. The repository material available for this update does not establish that claim. We should distinguish automated checks, editorial review and actual native-speaker testing instead of treating them as interchangeable.

If you spot a translation problem, a screenshot, the selected language and the app version make it easier to locate the right string and screen.

Why all the Android languages are included

A language picker only works if the selected language’s resources are available. Atomic Fast’s Android bundle configuration keeps the supported language resources together rather than relying on device-language delivery alone. That costs some download space, but avoids offering a choice whose translated resources are missing.

That is one of the trade-offs behind keeping the app size small. A smaller package is useful, but not at the expense of a setting that fails when someone uses it.

Frequently asked questions

Does Atomic Fast follow my phone’s language? By default, yes, when that language is supported. Unsupported content can fall back to English.

Can I choose a different language inside the app? Yes. Open the Language section in Me and choose App Language. Companion surfaces such as iOS widgets can still follow their system language.

Will switching languages change my saved meals or fasts? It changes the interface and formatting, not the underlying records. User-written meal names are not automatically translated.

Does an automated translation check prove the wording is right? No. Coverage and placeholder checks cannot establish natural wording or replace language-specific review and screen testing.

Are Japanese, Korean and Chinese included? They are not in the supported locale set checked for this update. We are not promising a release date for additional languages here.
